Tony Varney started Drive-Rite in 1997 after many years experience within the Transport Industry, and holds a Class 1 LGV licence. He tries to pass on some of that experience in lessons.

As a Drive-Rite pupil, you will receive theory and practical training together, as recommended by the Driving Standards Agency. A theory pack is provided, and there is also free loan of books,    CD-ROMs, DVD’s, and videos.

You, the pupil, will determine the pace of the tuition, as each pupil learns at a different rate. Two-hour lessons have proved to be the most effective way of learning, but one hour lessons are also available to fit in with your circumstances.

Your lessons will take place in a Renault Clio, fitted with dual controls for your safety, and power steering and air conditioning for your comfort. The national average pass rate for the practical test is 43%, with an average of nine faults per test. At Drive-Rite the pass rate is consistently  much higher than the national average, with a fault rate per test  that is below the national average.

Pass Plus courses are available after passing your practical test. The modules within Pass Plus include Motorway and night driving. Most insurers offer discounts on car insurance to those successfully completing Pass Plus, so as well as gaining valuable experience under the guidance of your instructor, you could also save money, as the insurance discounts can more than pay for the course.
